Spanish GED Instructor

Reports to: Principal

Reporting requirements: 40 hours per week

Duties include:

• Maintain and continually improve basic skills and GED preparation curriculum for diverse group of 16-24 year olds.
• As part of a team of GED Instructors, teach basic skills and GED preparation classes in Spanish. Subjects include: Literature, Writing and Composition, Social Studies.
• Teach Introduction to Spanish to English-speaking students.
• Develop syllabi and lesson plans for all classes.
• Maintain complete and accurate records of educational progress of youth, which includes preparing monthly educational progress reports on each youth, placing reports in their individual files, and entering the information in the database system.
• Prepare end of semester and end of the year assessments and report cards for all active enrollees.
• Prepare progress report and/or deficiency notices.
• Conduct parent conferences when required.
• Develop and implement instructional strategies for ELL and Spec Ed students in collaboration with the Special Education Coordinator and the Education Department Head.
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings and take an active role.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Education or English Literature with at least two years experience in teaching
basic skills and GED preparation. Must be fluent in Spanish. The
individual applying for this position must be flexible,energetic, and resourceful. Furthermore
